Malta Classic Tour
This wonderful tour covers three different periods of Malta's golden
history, amazing scenery and typical villages.
We start our day
with a visit to the south of the island and an opportunity to
experience a little local culture at the pretty traditional fishing
village of Marsaxlokk.

buildings and the colourful traditional fishing boats known as the 'luzzu',
hundreds of them fill up the bay.
We continue with our tour en route passing through small local
villages and some wonderful scenery including the stunning Valley of
Zurrieq and the Blue Grotto. We have a photo stop at the Blue Grotto
belvedere which offers a fabulous view of the huge 'grotto arch'.
We proceed to our next stop which will be the ancient site of Hagar
Qim. Before entering the temple site we start at the new visitors
centre where you can easily understand how these magnificent temples
where built over 7000 years ago! We then continue with a short tour
around this incredible ancient temple which
has the largest and heaviest megaliths out of all the temple sites
around the Maltese Islands, some slabs which form the outer wall
weighing a staggering 20 tons.
We will then stop for a short lunch break (the cost of lunch is not
included) before our visit to the medieval city of Mdina.
Mdina is built
on a plateau in the centre of the island, the cities old Baroque
buildings, cathedral and magnificent bastion walls dominate the
rural skyline. Mdina, once the capital of Malta until the modern
city of Valletta was built had many names including Melita (Roman
occupation), Medina (Arabic occupation), Citta Notabile (Knights of
St. John) and Citta Vecchia (after Valletta was built). Today it is
also referred as the Silent City since it inspires tranquillity at
any time of the day or night.
The only way to really experience and enjoy this city is on foot,
explore the quaint alleys, narrow streets, ancient buildings and
magnificent far reaching views form the high bastion walls.
Our final stop during the tour is Valletta.
Valletta which was built
by the Knights of St. John in 1565.
